Consulting

Our application specialists and design engineers will assist your team at every stage of the product design process. Beginning with the use model and progressing through the final test, we have the knowledge and experience to help you identify potential development problems early in the design process. Our demonstrated expertise spans electromagnetic simulation, patch and reflector design, 'mock-up' evaluation and test, board design and layout, anechoic chamber measurements, environmental testing, and 'real world' evaluation. In addition, we have many years of experience in providing EMI filter solutions.

EMC Testing

Spectrum Control was founded in 1968 as a provider of EMI/RFI filters and filtered connectors. From the beginning with these early years, providing diagnostic EMC testing has been integral to our development of effective filter and power management solutions. We utilize an in-house semi-anechoic chamber and shielded room to conduct a wide variety of noise suppression and compliance tests. Our NARTE certified engineering staff will conduct tests including European emission and immunity, FCC and MIL standard testing.

Design Engineering

Spectrum’s design team has extensive experience in providing solutions that fulfill our OEM customers goals for reliability, speed-to-market and cost effectiveness. We address problems ranging from filtering for noise suppression and EMC compliance, to complex AC or DC power systems requiring fuses, breakers, transient protection, power distribution and remote system access, thereby maximizing system uptime and MTTF.

Modeling

Spectrum Control uses the most advanced modeling technology for a comprehensive system review. Software tools such as ProE, Auto CAD™ and Inventor enable us to design optimum mechanical packages, while other proprietary software programs allow us to predict the necessary steps for proper thermal management, magnetics and PCB design. Through this sophisticated modeling and the early involvement of our engineers in your development process, we will reduce overall design cycle times to meet the need for a faster time-to-market.

Prototyping

We have consistently invested in the technology and equipment to provide our customers with quick-turn prototypes. Enhancing our response time is our ability to rapidly design and manufacture test and pre-production fixturing to insure consistent results. We apply these electrical and mechanical aspects into a prototype build to demonstrate the product's performance and manufacturability.

Testing

All Spectrum Control power products are 100% tested for key electrical characteristics. In order to provide the most accurate and specific test procedures, our engineering staff has developed custom and automated test equipment that is positioned at critical points in our manufacturing operation. We administer our test procedures for not only prototypes, but each and every power product we manufacture. This focus on quality and reliability is part of the commitment we make to our customers.

Packaging Solutions

Many of the standard power products we produce are the result of our many years of designing custom solutions for integration into our customer’s products or systems. Finding the optimum space saving package for your product is essential to its overall success. We evaluate internal and external thermal characteristics, air flow/heat dissipation parameters and EMI shielding requirements in developing a package design. Our final recommendation will ensure PCB and component life is maximized for long-term reliability.

Manufacturing

Spectrum Control offers the world class manufacturing necessary to deliver the 99.99999% reliability our customers demand. We are a vertically integrated manufacturer utilizing multiple locations for in-house capabilities ranging from producing EMI/RFI filters and capacitors to complete metal fabrication including tool and die, punching, laser cutting, pressing, plating and silk screen printing. As a testament to our quality commitment, our facilities and processes are ISO9001 certified.

Verification

We provide full product qualification services for assessing long-term product reliability. Our system test engineers design custom equipment and procedures to meet your specific requirements for environmental and stress testing. In addition, to shorten your time-to-market and ensure global safety compliance, we will help you achieve accreditation from a variety of regulatory groups such as CSA, UL, FCC, NEBS, TÜV and CE.
